What you need to learn to start a Small Home Business.

On the other hand, there are individuals who are just determined to earn not just enough but to strike it rich, and take the risk of starting a small home based business. They get out of the pressure of working on a stressful environment and enjoy the flexibility of their working hours. Although there are home base entrepreneurs who failed in their business venture, most individuals who started a small home base business continue their struggle, and luckily, generating substantial income before they realize that they do not need a regular job in the office to work with.

Why should I consider a small home based business opportunity?

However, there are instances wherein you come to think that the income you receive both from your regular and alternate work is still insufficient to compensate your expenditures given the fact that the prices of basic commodities and other necessities are consistently increasing. There is no chance that your salary will also increase every time the prices of basic commodities also increase.

That is why these employees are getting involved into home-based Internet marketing business. They clear some space inside their house that will serve as their “business office” (they also makes use of their bedrooms as offices) and purchase a single personal computer unit that is connected on the Internet. What they typically do is to surf on the Internet, research for several Internet-based earning opportunities that does not require huge starting capital, and learn the strategies needed to succeed in this type of program.

Home-based Businesses is on the increase.

How Important is to market my business properly?

Take a sneak peek on the following and determine what kind of promotion is best suited for your business. Internet marketing is distinguished from other types of business venture (such as the brick and mortar marketing) through its structures. There is a need for every Internet marketer, whether a neophyte or an experienced one, to master the strategies of Internet marketing to get the right approach and be successful in their respective programs.

One of the secrets in obtaining effective marketing approaches is to learn and understand the basic structure of Internet marketing. For instance, you need to realize that there is a huge distinction between short term and long term marketing strategies in which the former is a “temporary approach” and the latter is a “permanent approach”.

Your site must appear on the top pages of every search engine results made by Internet users. Its rapid development, along with the clever minds of webmasters and Internet geniuses, paved the way for the innovations that changed the way we live in this world.

This is one of the effective marketing strategies used in online-based businesses. In case that you are getting negative results, there is a need to change your approach. Affiliate Marketing Programs Category.

It must provide a long-term focus; that is, earning money not just only today but to the coming years as well. Lastly, do not be deaf to the feedbacks and concerns expressed by your clients. However, you can also help building brand awareness of not well-known products or services that will help a lot in making your online advertising successful.

Internet is not just for pure information dissemination or transmission of useful data–it now changed the way we do business in the 21st century. Is there a vehicle without engine and wheels? Take a course or spend time learning these techniques.

1. It is easy to promote products and services that are already well-known to the public rather than unbranded ones. Good decision, yet you need to know what can you expect when you take an Internet marketing course. There are many programs (both offline and online) that offers Internet marketing course, but the best course contains the best subjects that will serve as your guide on Internet marketing. Such subjects are as follows:

2. The course will start by discussing some basics of Internet marketing. Although it will not elaborate the history of the investment, it will include the basic opportunities on how you will be able to earn online without wasting your effort and financial resources.

3. Next in line is setting up your website. Keep in mind that on Internet marketing, your website will serve as your “shop” where you can sell products of other Internet marketers or promote something that will generate income on your part. The subject will include the appropriate website design templates to be used on a particular business, registering your site in its own domain name, and others.

4. Along with the course, expect that it will include several strategies on how you will be able to anticipate the moves of your competitors. Internet marketing is a growing market, and competition among Internet marketers is inevitable. Thus, there is a need for you to watch how your competitors move in order to stay alive in your chosen investment.

5. The course will also include subjects related to website promotion through the use of online classified ads, press releases, newsletters, emails, newsgroups, and others. Keep in mind that your website must be as popular as possible so that you will be able to attract more clients. Promoting your website as your product is very critical on Internet marketing, and it is one of the subjects that would be discussed extensively.

It is natural that you will spend some of your money in taking an Internet marketing course. Keep in mind that in order to succeed, you must have the necessary knowledge and skills that will help you reach your market.

Furthermore, it is not just selling a certain product to online shoppers. Affiliate links work best in the context of the information contained within the website. ” Although the structure is considered to be as the “basic outline”, there are instances wherein due to changing market conditions and other external factors, there is a need to change some parts of the structure either to remove or add several elements.

The present structure of Internet marketing is now one of the better if not the best structures among all existing investments. There are additional elements that are now considered to be the “ultimate lifeline” of the online business industry.

o THE FOUNDER- you are one of the important elements of an Internet marketing structure. The business will not be successful if you will not stand up and lead your business to the right path. Remember that the Internet has its own “dungeons”–and it is where you need to shine and break the darkness to become successful on your Internet marketing career.

o THE PRODUCT- if you do not have a product to sell, do you think you will be able to grab a slice of the Internet marketing revenue pie?

Although you have an excellent Internet marketing business opportunity, but if you do not have a marketing plan for developing such opportunity, there is a slim chance that you will be successful.

How do you market a small home based business.

Although classified ads is the designated part for such endorsements, you will still find several product and service endorsements on the front page, sports page, and even on the comics section of the newspaper. Structure is an integral part of their being–without it, their being and purpose is not complete.

If you think that the structure is just for physical attributes alone, then you need to think again.

As a matter of fact, abstract things also need structure in order to survive. And Internet marketing does need a specific structure.

In what way? Why is important to get the structure right?

Once the brand is consistently patronized by the people, you will be able to achieve success and your products will certainly have an edge over unbranded products. This will influence the way they patronize your products or services that may even result in the expansion of your clientele base.

There exist wide range of advertising-related and consultancy services based on market conditions, advance sales strategies, and popular culture. As previously mentioned, you do not need to secure necessary permits from city or state governments or find premises for your business. It was a simple idea.

Some merchants run their own affiliate programs while others use third party services provided by intermediaries to track traffic or sales that are referred from affiliates.

It is irrelevant (for the compensation) how often an Ad is displayed.

If you have your mailing list, you must have an auto responder service. If you don’t yet you will soon, it’s part of internet marketing. Some advertisers however did and still do embrace this behaviour of their affiliates and allow them, even encourage them, to bid on any term they like, including the advertisers trademarks.

Depending on the kind of Internet marketing business you are into as well as your subscriber’s level of interest, the appropriate volume for you could be weekly or monthly. SEO, or the search engine optimization, is a proven online advertising method, and presently in-demand. The choice is yours to make.

It is an online-based exchange agency that serves as an intermediary between buyers and sellers in making business transactions (particularly business-to-business transactions, hence the term B2B applies).

All other effective strategies will come in line as long as you stick to the basic yet the best strategies in your Internet marketing venture. Remember that your ultimate goal is to be a successful Internet marketer who continues to generate revenues on an upscale. Many affiliate programs were poorly managed. But don’t let that worry you because with time vendors are getting better.

Once the selected brand name is still available, It is a unique system that allows you to collect commissions on your own sales as well as individuals you recruited. Those are the key features that you need to watch out when deciding on which Internet marketing business you will engage into.

Advertising your products or services for sale through the Internet is relatively cheaper than advertising through local newspapers and large billboards. Develop you own product. Or better still you can JV with an established vendor and collect regular commission cheques by promoting their products. One popular method is Pay Per Click search engine traffic. Also known as “google adword” More information can be found by visiting the links below.

Blogging – Everyone Else Is Doing It – So Why Can’t I

2011
11.05

The Internet and the software which has been developed to run on it have made it extremely easy for anyone to publish content and have it accessible to millions of people. In effect, consumers have been given a voice to air their views to a massive audience. Something which before the Internet, they could never have done.

In recent years one of the biggest examples of this has been the massive growth of weblogs (blogs), wiki’s, podcasts, vlogs and moblogs – together they form what is loosely known as social media; the ability for anyone to publish almost any content without the typical costs and hindrances associated with traditional media.

This new publishing freedom has resulted in an explosion of new content. However the term social media, or citizen journalism as it is sometimes called, may be a misnomer as many companies can do it as well!

What is Blogging?

Blogging is currently the most common form of social media, in fact as of October 2006, about 100 000 new weblogs are being created each day – that’s more than the number of books published in the US each year!

The word blog is derived from the term “weblog” which was coined by Jorn Barger in 1997. We started using blog over weblog when Peter Merholz broke the word weblog into the phrase “we blog” in the sidebar of his weblog in 1999.

A blog is essentially a website typically driven by a content management system which features articles (blog posts) and comments on the blog posts. They come in all shapes and forms – from personal diaries shared with friends and family, to arms of political campaigns, media programs and updates on current affairs. They also range in scale from the writings of one blogger, to the collaboration of a large community of writers.

The world of blogs, bloggers and blog posts is commonly known as the blogosphere which has evolved rapidly since its inception. Blogs have given consumers and companies a voice and blogging has opened up a world of information sharing possibilities.

Blogs are not a fad that will lose popularity any time soon – they are here to stay and companies who want to be taken seriously by their consumers need to consider the benefits of starting a corporate blog or at the very least listen to what is being said about them in the blogosphere.

Blogging and RSS

Pioneered by Dave Winer, RSS (Really Simple Syndication) has taken blogging to a whole new level. An RSS feed is an XML (eXtensible Markup Language) file automatically generated by a blog or indeed almost any website or Internet service. Users are then able to “syndicate” or subscribe to this feed using a feed reader or aggregator. When a new post is available, the reader fetches its contents and puts the headings and usually some or all of the content of the post into your reader or directly onto another blog. When a blog is updated, its RSS feed is as well so information spreads very quickly and automatically.

In layman’s terms, RSS eliminates the need for the user to constantly check a site or blog to see if it has been updated. Their feedreader automatically does this for them and presents fresh information as it becomes available. This means that a user can constantly monitor potentially hundreds or even thousands of blogs and websites without having to spend the time visiting each one to check for fresh content.

Some examples of feed readers include FeedDemon, Newsgator and RSS Bandit.

Understanding the subject of blogging is made far easier when one immerses oneself in it, so set up a feed reader and get to it. You’ll soon lose yourself in this fascinating world of content sharing and strong opinions.

Better Blogging

By October 2006, Technorati, a blog tracking engine, registered 57 Million blogs tracked. They also acknowledged a consistent pattern whereby the number of blogs doubles every 236 days. However despite the massive growth of blogs, most do not make it past 3 months. According to Technorati, only 55 percent of bloggers are still posting 3 months after starting the blog with very few in comparison updating their blogs weekly or more.

Whether one is starting a blog for personal or corporate marketing purposes, there is no guarantee that anyone will ever find it. In order to ensure a blog’s success it needs to be marketed. Here is a list of suggestions on how to go about doing so:

Search engine optimisation: By ensuring that your blog is search engine friendly, search engines can be a major source of traffic. It is important that your chosen keywords are used in your blog headings, content and meta tags and that the search engines are able to spider all aspects of your blog.

Comments and trackbacks: By treating the blogosphere as a series of ongoing conversations and actively being a part of these conversations through comments and trackbacks, other bloggers will get to know you, link to your blog and a gradual stream of visitors will result.

List your blog in blog directories: Similar to search engines, directories are human edited and managed. Although the traffic volume is not as massive as search engines, many users do visit directories and this could be a great place for them to find out about your blog.

Ping web services with your updated content: Sites like ping-o-matic and FeedShark offer a service whereby they ping multiple web services, blog directories and search engines to let them know that your blog has fresh content.

Content – know your audience: Your blog posts must be interesting and useful to your readers. Develop your unique voice and don’t be afraid to post things others will not agree with.

Frequency: The regularity of posts is important, as there is a direct correlation to blog repeat visitors and the number of times it’s updated. Post 3-5 times per week at a minimum. Web sites and blogs that are updated often get spidered by Google more frequently.

A Holistic Approach

Blogging works in synergy with other eMarketing services, once again proving that a holistic approach is vital to ensure success on the World Wide Web.

Blogs and SEO

You’ve heard it a million times… Content is king! Because search engines love fresh, relevant content, blogs are a great way to give them exactly this. Essentially by writing one post a day, a blog allows you to add a fresh page of content to your website each day. The nature of blogs also makes them an excellent source of links to your website. Provided your content is engaging, other bloggers will link to it and search engines view these links as popularity votes thereby assisting in improving your rankings.

It is important however that the blog is set up to be as search engine friendly as possible. Start by ensuring that all blog posts are assigned a unique page which is easily indexable by the search engines. This can be achieved by ensuring that each page has a link to it which the search engines can find and follow. Pages must be tagged with keywords relevant to your SEO strategy. This means putting important keywords in your post headings, page URL and meta tags, particularly the title tag.

Blogs and Viral Marketing

In a similar vein to blogs being used as a natural link attraction tool, they can be extremely useful as a viral component to your online marketing strategy.

With valuable and engaging content, people will begin talking about and linking to your site. The blogosphere is an interconnected environment and as a result items which are interesting or remarkable are talked about and shared amongst bloggers. Over time this interest brings eyeballs to your site and ultimately awareness to your brand.

It’s Not Always Happy Day’s and Sunshine

Although word of mouth can have a tremendously positive impact on a brand, it can also cause immense damage. One of the best examples of the blogosphere influencing brands negatively is the now infamous “Dell Hell” scenario.

It all started when blogger, Jeff Jarvis had a terrible customer experience with Dell Computers. In true blogger style he documented his experience on his blog and word quickly spread to the point where it was even covered in print by Business Week. However Dell failed to respond to his musings and the bad customer experiences continued as did the negative comments on the blogosphere. Jeff’s rantings become known as Dell Hell and a recent scientific study by responsesource.com showed first that Dell has sustained long-term damage to its brand image and secondly that the cheerleaders for the poor reputation of Dell’s customer services, are bloggers.

With blogs wielding this level of power, it is critical that brands understand how to manage their reputation online and if necessary take proactive steps to limit the damage which can be caused by negative word of mouth. Online Reputation Management is something all companies need to be considering.

On a final note, a great thing to remember about blogs is that a blog is simply a method of publishing content on the Web. Calling something a blog now is a focus on the technology used on the server, the content management solution. Of course, there’s a significant culture that’s grown around this particular technology, but that culture is bound to remain a subculture. Not because the number of people who are involved in blogging is going to shrink but rather because the number of people reading content published using Movable Type, Blogger, or any of the other tools is going to grow. Fast.

The services offered by Quirk eMarketing include everything from the conceptualisation of a comprehensive online marketing strategy, through to the implementation of the various eMarketing methods needed to make that vision a reality.

Secrets of Getting Better Service When Dining Out Alone

2011
11.04

People often dine out in groups. Whether it’s family, a group of friends, or a cluster of office workers, eating out is often as much a social experience as it is one to try out new flavors and dishes.

Nonetheless, there are many reasons one may eschew the group experience and dine alone. Perhaps you are single and your friends are busy. You might be on a business trip and tire of room service food. Perhaps you have some paperwork or computing to accomplish and tire of sitting in your office / cubicle. Or, you might have the day off and just want to relax without having to worry about cooking and cleaning up.

While restaurants should serve everyone, in many instances larger groups are preferred. Busy restaurants don’t like to offer tables for four to just one person while making a party of three wait. Servers naturally will flock to larger throngs as these usually result in higher tips, and in some cases these are automatically added to the bill! Plus, restaurants located near areas of high foot traffic may want to place larger groups closest to the doors and windows to make it look busier from the outside, knowing that busy restaurants do tend to attract more diners. However, by following the below advice you should have a more pleasurable dining experience when there is no company joining you.

* Avoid Peak Times

Though not always possible due to your schedule or dietary needs, consider dining out at restaurants during off-peak times. If restaurants are not packed with tons of customers, you are more likely to receive a desired table. Plus, this increases the chances of keeping a server’s attention, as during peak times they will most likely gravitate towards the larger parties due to tips.

Of course, there are potential downsides. Restaurants may plan around having fewer customers by hiring fewer servers. If you eat late, the food may not be as fresh. And you don’t want to eat too late – ordering dinner a quarter hour before a restaurant closes will not make you too popular with the cooks.

* Don’t be Too Disappointed with Your Seat

Don’t expect a primo seat during peak times. However, if a restaurant has plenty of open tables it should be OK to ask for a better location, especially if you are placed next to the restroom or kitchen doors (high traffic areas). Unless the restaurant is almost barren, however, please don’t ask to be moved to a big table as those will be reserved for larger groups.

* Look to the Bar

Even if you don’t plan on having a cocktail or other alcoholic refreshment, consider eating at the bar area as long as the entire menu is available. Not only may this result in quicker service, but you may receive extra attention such as quicker refills, more napkins when asking, extra sauce, etc. Plus, there’s a chance for some socialization, and perhaps a fellow patron may leave a newspaper to read (they still exist).

Note that in some municipalities, non-smokers may want to stay away from the bar area to avoid second-hand smoke. However, many areas have rules preventing smoking in restaurants or other public places (even bars inside restaurants), making the bar area an acceptable place for them to eat.

* Be Personable

Smile when talking to your host / hostess / waiter / waitress / bartender. Start up a conversation unless they are extremely busy. Look up when they talk to you and don’t keep your face down in a newspaper, cell phone, or iPad. Don’t treat restaurant workers as servants but as real people working and trying to get through the day. Good manners, good cheer, and respect can be contagious.

* Tip Well

If the food is good, the service at least acceptable, and you plan on returning to a restaurant often, tip well. This doesn’t mean you have to tip a whopping 30% each time, but don’t skimp and tip 10% or even exactly 15% at every meal. Trust me, bartenders and servers do remember faces and names. Stories of bad tips are shared, and conversely at some locales, you may be surprised at how much better you get treated if you are known for tipping generously or even fairly. Being known as a “regular” could result in fringe benefits such as having a drink removed from your bill or an occasional free appetizer.

If you want the best service at a restaurant when dining alone, be friendly and flexible. Dining at off-peak times may result in more attention from servers. Be willing to sit near high traffic areas, but don’t be afraid to speak up for a change of seating if a restaurant is not too busy. Consider the bar for faster service and even more attention. Sport a smile and a friendly personality. And probably the most important for repeat customers, tip well. If you stand out as a friendly customer that treats the staff with respect, you will more likely have better experiences when dining alone.

The Joy of Hiking With Your Dog

2011
11.04

One of the greatest pleasures you can share with your dog is a hiking excursion. Don’t get me wrong, not all dogs are suited to hikes in the high country. But for those that are, it can keep them in great shape, keep you in great shape and forge a bond between you and your dog that many may never experience.

Just like us humans, our dog companions need to get in shape for hiking. Depending upon where and what type of hiking you plan to do will determine what type of training your dog needs. I would advise checking with your vet first before starting any type of training regimen. If you like taking short half-day hikes, you can start off by walking your dog around your neighborhood (this is good practice for any dog) short distances each day and gradually increase the mileage. A great place to take your dog for some fun is a dog park or off leash area where your dog will get exercise playing with other dogs or fetching a Frisbee or ball. Try a short hike with your dog, about 1-2 miles to see how they do. Gradually increase the hiking mileage to levels that you will normally hike. Check your dogs paws/pads if they are not used to being outside and get some dog booties if they have tender feet. The other training consideration is altitude acclimation. If you plan to hike in higher elevation terrain than your hometown, you and your dog will need to acclimate. Most hikes in southwest Colorado should be considered high altitude hikes and will require altitude acclimation which means you need to gradually adjust to the elevation. Take it slow, drink lots of water for the first few days until you become accustomed to the altitude.

Before departing on any hike with your dog, bring extra water with you if there are no streams or lakes along the way (to avoid the possibility of Giardia, a waterborne parasite, bring fresh water.) Even the most fit of dogs will become exhausted if they don’t have enough water especially on a hot day. It’s a good idea to consult trail maps for many obvious reasons but also to find out if there are streams, rivers or lakes along the way so your dog can cool off during warm summer months if they are so inclined. Keep in mind if your dog is a swimmer, to remove the pack before they plunge into the water and soak everything in the pack. Have food and dog treats with you too. Try Zuke’s Power Bones to keep your active dog going. If you’re taking a longer hike, think about getting your dog a pack to carry his or her own food and water.

When choosing a hike to take with your canine companion, make sure to do some research to find out if dogs are allowed on the trail (dogs are not allowed on trails in national parks,) but many state parks do allow dogs on the trail. Just check your particular destination to see if there are any restrictions. Even if you are hiking in an off-leash area, keep the leash handy in case you need to restrain your dog quickly due to other unfriendly dogs or wild animal encounters. Keep your dog on a leash at all times if they are not under your voice command. There have been many cases where deer and other animals have attacked dogs when they feel threatened. Keep your dog in site at all times when hiking for their safety and yours. There are trails out there where you need to determine if the hike is too risky for your dog because it’s too steep, too rocky or too narrow or any number of other reasons. Research the hike thoroughly and find out if others have taken the hike with their dog. Assess your dogs abilities fairly and if you’re in doubt about the hike, leave them safely at home or choose a different hike.

Hiking etiquette applies not only to humans but your dog as well. Give way to horses on the trail, preferably the low side of the trail. Keep your dog restrained while horses pass. Pick up after your dog. Don’t let your dog race up to strangers (believe it or not, some people are afraid of a dog running at them.)

Just like for humans, there are many potential pitfalls when hiking in the back country or in your neighborhood. Use common sense, consult your vet about your dogs health prior to hiking and be prepared. Know your limitations and your dogs and enjoy the experience of hiking with your best friend in the great outdoors.

I live and spend time in Southwest Colorado and have a passion for hiking in the high country with my husband and our yellow lab Ginger. My website is focused on hiking information that includes reviews of hikes, maps and general hiking information, mountain towns with lodging and restaurant recommendations are included as well. The French Cooking School USA – Learn To Cook The “French Way” At The French Cooking School USA!

2011
11.01

While there are those who prefer to stick to traditional methods of cooking and traditional food, there are also a class of people who are always willing to experiment with new culinary delights! The French cuisine consists of traditional and regional dishes, as well as continental food flavored with the French ethnic touch. It is because of this that French food has become so popular in the rest of Europe, USA, and many other countries. This popularity has therefore led to the initiation of the French Cooking School USA.

The French Cooking School USA, an association of different schools, was inaugurated with the idea of imparting knowledge about French recipes and French delicacies to people wishing to qualify as professionals in the art of French cooking. Development of teaching skills is also a part of the program. In addition, the advancement of science and technology and schools under this association being placed at varied locations has ensured that distance poses no problem to learning.

Having earned the distinction of being the most exploratory international institution where the culinary arts and cooking are concerned, the French Cooking School USA uses varied cooking techniques unique to France and innovative recipes to provide an extraordinary learning experience for its students. The School is run by people thoroughly acquainted with French gourmet cooking as well as the essence of France?s culture. Is it any wonder then that superb masterpieces like Souffles and Bisques have come from the French Cooking School USA?

Two of the more popular schools associated with the French Cooking School USA are the Ecole Dijon Cooking School and the Cook Street School of Fine Cooking.

The Ecole Dijon Cooking School conducts classes at Chef Drew Holladay Home. There are small groups of students who are scheduled to attend eight sessions of teaching. This school basically caters to cooking in the home. So people who wish to confine their culinary skills to their own homes or bring a change in their regular menus take admission here. Trained cooks demonstrate newer ways of cooking routine food to bring about variety.

The students at Cook Street School of Fine Cooking in Colorado learn specialized French cooking and how to prepare wine. Certificates are awarded at the end of the course. Though the fees demanded are quite affordable, the students get thorough training in the science of good eating. They can therefore opt for careers in culinary art. The course program imparts knowledge about the heritage of French cuisine, how a menu has to be prepared, knowledge about wines, and how an appetite for good food is to be developed.

Another school of mention associated with the French Cooking School USA, is the New School of Cooking. An amateur takes admission and departs as a professional cook! There is the flexibility of taking up part-time, or full-time baking courses of one-year duration. Training is given by professional chefs. There is also the option of learning Italian and Asian cooking in addition to French cooking.

Thus, the French Cooking School USA provides an ideal atmosphere and learning experience for anyone desiring to master French cooking!

Build a career planning tool box to achieve career success.

We all have our favorite coaches, and if they coach our favorite athletic team, it’s a plus. Tom Landry tried to measure the character of his players. Vince Lombardi expected and achieved excellence. Dean Smith brought out the best in his players while playing within the rules. John Wooden spent extra time in designing the best practices possible. Superior coaching is about being our best and beyond.

A significant number of Coach Lombardi’s players, for example, achieved financial and personal success outside football. Coaching is about performance whether its career planning or on the athletic field. Effective career planning with an experienced job coach will help us get on the right career path to plan, manage and advance our career.

As a career planning guide the best coach to bring out your peak performance is the person you see in the mirror every morning. If you can’t pay for a personal career coach, or maybe there’s no one available or you aren’t ready, why not be your own career planning coach? Here’s a successful and winning game plan to follow:

1. Write out your Personal Career Planning Guide: Write out your career goals. Your career development plan should be specific and measurable. There is power in writing and planning your career goals. Put a copy up on your screen saver. Write out your career plan on 3×5 cards and place them where you can read them daily. Think about your career objectives and frequently bring them up to date. Celebrate whenever you reach a milestone. This step is the most important in your career planning tool box.

2. Focus on your Career Development: Eliminate distractions and keep your eye on your career goals. Life normally is full of frustrations and distractions. Successful coaches do not tolerate the things that drive most of us crazy – they take the time to stop, solve the problem and eliminate the distraction once and for all. Stay focused on your career plan.

3. Control your Surroundings: Top performers know that space management is as important as time management. They generally have neat offices, clean cars, orderly appointment books, and they plan for the unexpected, just in case. Make your space is as productive as possible and you can put your very best work.

4. Superior Performance Today: Don’t dwell on the past. It can’t be changed. Work your career planning strategy by doing your best today. Show up, be attentive, bear down and do your best. Your outstanding performance today will coach you to reach and exceed your future career plans. Many of life’s most important achievements are about doing a superior job right now, on the work that lies right in front of you. Dwelling on the big game next month will only cause you to lose focus on you career plans; the job in front of you is to get the most out of today’s work (practice) so when the big game arrives you’ll be more that ready to excel.

5. Build daily reading into your Career Plan: As part of your career plan, set aside some time to read something useful, motivating or fun every day. If you enjoy reading science fiction, for example, make a deal with yourself for every science fiction novel you read you’ll read two motivation or career related books. Plan on reading at least two books a month, build it into your career planning. Manage your other reading. Everything that comes across your desk or in your email does not have to be read. Use the delete button or the round file. You’ll now have more time to read something that advances your career plan. Reading will make a world of difference in coaching you to reach your career goals outlined in your career plan.

6. Make the time in your car Productive: During your commute or when you’re driving plan on listening to motivational, educational, learn a language, or just plain fun CD’s. The radio is wall to wall commercials or the latest murder and mayhem; not productive use of your time. You’ll be furthering your career plan by turning this unproductive time to into something useful. It’s always good career advice to surround yourself with the best information available.

7. Develop a Career Coaching Group: As you advance in your career you’ll come across people who can help you become successful. Stay in contact with them. Think of them as your “assistant coaches.” Run ideas by them, ask for their advice and be open to let them coach you.

8. Build Play and Fitness into your Career Plan: Get fit. Go for a long walk. Use the basketball hoop in the driveway. Have fun, laugh, enjoy the day with friends and family. Build play and fitness into your career plan. Be balanced in your career life planning. Don’t neglect the physical side of your career path planning.

10. Be Thankful of your Gifts: Look back on the past week. Ask yourself how many good days or events did you have in the past week. What made them good? Plan on doing more of the good stuff and less of the not so good. Be grateful and thankful to others. Practice a positive attitude.

Having a number of career planning guides like those listed above in your career tool box to assist you in your coaching will help keep you on your planned path. Having written career goals, with a career planning strategy and your books, CD’s, friends along with your routine will all help coach you to career success.

Search out the best resources you can find. Build your career plan into your daily routine. Overall your career planning should not be expensive and you’ll find it to be one of the best investments you’ll ever make. Coach yourself to success.
